Book 2 of the Khumalo Trilogy, AMNANDI SAILS – with respect to Earth Wind & Fire, the reasons, short version
It’s hard for me to not want to tell you why I wrote a book, even though that knowledge has zero relation to whether or not you’ll enjoy a single word or if I hit the mark. The first in this series, Breath Warmth and Dream, came out of me wanting Black women in all their glory and magic exploring their own beautiful worlds, at peace and powerful. Amnandi Sails is the result of our real world refusing to rise to meet even young people— let alone grunts who’d gone through life mile by mile— on those terms, which to me is unconscionable, but somehow not wanting our young people to be mired with what clogs our tired veins is still seen as social weakness. Getting away from foolish selfishness takes honesty, compassion, and a lot of thinking beyond the tip of one’s nose. Takes love. But even love is a sickness for some folks, whereas virulence is health. My hope that we’ll heal from that persistent virus sent Amnandi on her voyage. As you read it, if you read it, may you (and she) travel well. May you be where you need to be. Kickstarter link HERE.
Sail on and be well,
