2025 Awards Eligibility Post
NOVEL CONSIDERATIONS
I published one solitary thing this year:
A fantasy novel, sequel at that. Amnandi Sails, continuing the adventures of the Khumalos and their family of friends.
Basically a roaming fantasy that can be summed with this quote regarding preeminent witch Mother Khumalo from the first book in the series, Breath, Warmth & Dream:
“Traveling was essential. She’d brought someone into the world; it stood to reason to show them as much of that inheritance as she could.”
Here’s a verified 100% cute picture of C.S.E. Cooney dressed as the book. I figured you could use some sun.
(And here’s publication info: Title, AMNANDI SAILS; Pub date, Aug 2025; Zig Zag Claybourne, author; Obsidian Sky Books; 300 pages)
No, but seriously, nominate this book.
“Claybourne has a way of taking something ‘familiar’ and making it feel like reading it for the first time,” said Milton Davis.
I like that.
